It is one of those organizations which is controlled by stockholders, it is presumed, largely of the Wisconsin Central but any road which may wish to enter here. A line of road from her to Neenah is now being graded and will be finished some time during the spring. It is expected the road will be completed some time in July. This connects with the Wisconsin Central, which runs to St. Paul, MN, Duluth and Chicago. The Terminal company are now building a large slip for the use of its car ferries. These will run to Ludington where connections are made with 3 lines of road branching to the northeast, east, and southeast. Across the lake transportation shortens the distance for the points west and northwest of here to eastern destinations, thus diverting traffic from Chicago to this point largely. We have before spoken of the effect of this so need not dwell upon the subject. Through its influence our harbor will be improved and other improvements of a general nature will follow. It will serve to attract manufacturers and its kindred organizations, the Manitowoc Land Company which it controlled by the same syndicate, is supposed to attend to this part of the business. It has bought some 400 acres of land along the river towards the Rapids which is to be offered for manufacturing sites.
