Peter Anderson Date 1841-10-10 Notes Born in Tisor, Norway on 10/10/1841. Started sailing on ocean in 1855. An older brother was first mate on a vessel, so his mother gave her consent for him to go. Came to New York in 1861 and registered for service but was told they needed no more soldiers or sailors. Arrived in Chicago in 1886 and sailed schooner Fleetwing. During a storm in fall, the ship layed to in Manitowoc and he stayed here to live. In 1867 he became first mate of Gesine, with Fred Schuette as captain.Became one of the builders of schooner Felicitious and owned half interest. With Captain Hanson in Newhouse for several years. Then in wood and coal business. Retired at age 75. Married Bertha Marie Hanson on 12/14/1873. Died on 04/18/1895. Concerning his date of death this was an extremely dubious guess at best.
